With recent events and high temperatures everywhere in the state, Estes Park might be the “coolest” of the cool! The 14th annual Coolest Car Show in Colorado starts at 9 a.m. on July 4th, in and around Bond Park. Benefiting the Estes Park Museum, the event is sponsored by the Estes Park Museum Friends & Foundation, Inc. The show traditionally brings over 130 cars representing makes and models from the iconic Stanley Steamer to this year’s addition of electric models. “From Steam to Electric: Celebrating the Past; Pursuing the Future” is this year’s theme. Estes Park, the summer home of F.O. Stanley from 1904 to 1940, is the perfect place to present a classic car show!The owners of these well cared for cars of the past and present enjoy being a part of this show, not only because of the beautiful venue, but they also appreciate the generosity of local businesses who support this fundraiser. This year’s drawing for prizes for the participants of the show include: a gift certificate from the Dunraven Inn for dinner; and gift certificates for accommodations from The Stanley Hotel, Best Western Plus – Silver Saddle, Comfort Inn, Estes Park Condos, Antlers Pointe, Creekside and Bugle Pointe Condos, River Stone Management -River Stone and Bear Paw Resorts, Rocky Mountain Resorts -Fawn Valley Inn, and Valhalla Resorts. In addition, two beautiful Cheryl Pennington photos and two Meguiar Kits for cars have been donated. The Friends are extremely grateful to all the above businesses who offer prizes for the exhibitors.
The Coolest Car Show is a great way to start the Fourth of July with family fun for all ages. The prices have not increased; $5.00 for an individual; $10.00 for a family of four; children age five and under are free. The gates open at 9 a.m. with the awards ceremony starting at 2:00 p.m. Once again, great food provided by Bloomberries, including freshly made, cold lemonade and a large variety of other foods, will be on the menu! While viewing your favorite cars the children can enjoy face painting as well as clowns with bubbles and balloons. Don’t miss the wonderful museum quality fire trucks from Reliance Fire Museum and the Chevy Volt from Medved Autoplex and the Nissan Leaf from Boulder Nissan.
